What’s in a name
The birth of Artist Not Muse was a result of an emotionally turbulent year in 2022 😂
It marked a significant turning point in my life, as both my body and mind forced me to stop. The past five years have been filled with countless ups and downs, but today, I proudly stand here, having found the words to speak out about the pain of sexual violence.
In a way, depression consumed me entirely. But in the midst of my healing process, a simple gift from my beloved husband, Federico, became literally a guiding star. A pencil for digital art unleashed my inner creativity, allowing me to rediscover the joy of creation. With each stroke, the outside world faded away and I was suddenly free from external pressures or expectations.
And that's how I came to the realization that I needed to carve out time for enjoyment in my life, leading me to embark on the creation of this creative agency. Over the span of seven years, I've immersed myself in studies and worked alongside media outlets and international organizations. Today, I stand here embracing the concept of reinvention, understanding that we can continuously evolve and manifest countless versions of ourselves.
But why did I choose the name "Artist Not Muse"? In 2018, I made the decision to move to Barcelona to pursue my studies in Literary Journalism, which was followed by a Master's program in Gender Studies. It was there that I crossed paths with extraordinary and inspiring friends who became pillars of support and motivation.
It was during one eye-opening class that I realized the profound imbalance in my knowledge of women, girls, trans and intersex artists throughout history. This revelation fueled my passion for feminist communication, giving birth to "Artist Not Muse." This name embodies my unwavering commitment to creating a world where women are not only muses but celebrated as bold creators.
Thank you for being part of my journey ♥
